Great work is happening across the country in education as we address the immediate issues of today, tomorrow and next week. But, there is also an immediacy to start solving the problems of the next generation and creating a future workforce. While we focus on the millions of kids already on the path to college, we also need to have a long-term strategy to re-establish the high school diploma as a true representation of academic excellence and rigor, career and job readiness, and/or college preparedness.
Our vision. The Kauffman Foundation works together with the communities we serve to create uncommon solutions for the challenges of today, while also planning far into the future. The Foundation is investing in ideas that will put into place the critical pathways today that we will be grateful we invested in 18 years from now. That is a movement – a movement that includes you. Not a program, but an actual movement of people to change what happens to kids when they reach the end of high school.
Our mission. We want to talk with you, and learn from you, about the things that are working and how those can coalesce into this movement. Education is a big investment that needs an equally big return. We cannot do this alone as a single foundation. As we continue to invest, learn, discuss and build, we need to explore these themes in a conversation with you. We can do more, and we want to learn together with you.
Our gathering. Please join Social Innovation Summit (SIS) and Kauffman Foundation as part of a special VIP Delegation of 45 executive leaders as we embark on a unique Learning Journey experience.
SIS Learning Journeys are exciting opportunities that provide a curated platform to understand firsthand the insights, programs and innovations driving social impact. Participants will benefit from onsite, interactive sessions with community-based initiatives and organizations to learn from local peers while building national partnerships.
Kansas City is small enough to manage, yet big enough to matter.
Historically known for jazz and BBQ, Kansas City is rethinking what it can be. Major growth in the entrepreneurial ecosystem has Kansas City in the middle of the job creation conversation, and people are flocking to the city for new opportunities.
But when every child does not have access to a quality education, even the most dynamic economic development plan will fail. By 2020, more than 65 percent of jobs will require a postsecondary credential, and current Kansas City postsecondary access and completion rates are inadequate to meet this need.
To respond to today’s challenges in education, Kansas City is thinking differently about the way we solve problems as well as how we engage families, students, educators and those who support our students.
Meanwhile, the Kauffman Foundation is working with the communities we serve to address the needs of learning in a rapidly changing economy. Kansas City provides the opportunity to work directly with students, parents and educators to develop concepts, test ideas and work through solutions in a diverse landscape.
Leveraging the backdrop of Kansas City, we will be telling a national story with insights applicable across all cities and communities!
We believe the lessons learned in Kansas City can positively influence other cities, not just across our nation, but around the world.
We have arranged a discounted room block at The Raphael, a luxury boutique hotel in the heart of Kansas City, and recommend the group stay there for ease of logistics and transportation.
